Descendants of James Ferson (MacPherson)
(est 1700 - aft 1778) from Ireland
James Ferson (MacPherson), was my great x 4 grandfather and migrated in 1732 with his family from Dunboe, Barony
of Coleraine, County Londonderry, Ireland, through Boston to southern New Hampshire. My Ferson ancestors lived
in several NH towns - Londonderry, Goffstown, Dunbarton, and Bradford - and in Weathersfield, VT, before migrating
west in 1835 to St. Charles, IL - a town two Ferson brothers helped found only three years earlier. A Ferson ancestor,
James's son, also was a Revolutionary War soldier, beginning his service within days after the battle of Lexington
and Concord. Mary Caroline "Carrrie" (Ferson) Younges (1856 - 1929), above, was my Grandma Kirkland's mother so one
of my great grandmothers. She and Smith Younges (1852 - 1920) married in 1874.
A 1987 compilation by Shirley and Ellery Ferson entitled, "Ancestors and Descendants of Parker Ferson of Bradford,
NH, and St. Charles, IL" gives a thorough genealogy of the Fersons. It was self-published and distributed to family
members, but is neither in several genealogy libraries I searched nor viewable online. Parker Ferson was Carrie's father.
